Only two differences I can see between my Chinese SKS and my brothers Russian SKS is the position of the rear sling mountin point (Chinese one is on the left side of the stock; Russian one is on the bottom of the stock) and the bayonet (Chinese one has a “pig-sticker”; Russian one has a blade). There’s some minor differences, some stamped parts.. False, the Russian is better. My apology for mispronouncing Yugoslavia, not my intention so let’s move on. And for good reason. Despite firing a 7.62X39 cartridge, the weapon’s lack of recoil is startling. Even before you load the permanently-attached, front-hinged magazine (Stalin worried about troops losing them), the minimalism of the gun’s external controls are a delight. Loading the SKS is a straightforward affair.. Chinese is light, but can be less accurate. Yugo is heavier, but more accurate and better machined. Yugo’s do have some firing pin problems, but can be replaced with a Chinese one for about 5-10 dollars. I have one with over 1000 rounds shot by me and it works fine with the original pin.
